Twyla Kitts

Twyla Kitts is the Teacher Program Educator for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’s Art and Education Division and the collection educator for the Renaissance, Baroque, Fabergé, and 18th/19th-century European art galleries. She received the 2014 Partners in the Arts Outstanding Arts and Culture Leader Award, the 2014 VAEA (Virginia Art Education Association) Virginia Art Educator Award, the 2009 VAEA State Art Educator Award in the Museum Education Division, and the 2010 CRVAEA Art Advocacy Award. She has also served on Virginia’s Standards of Learning Review Boards in the content areas of history and visual art.Before her foray into the fine arts, she worked at the Science Museum of Virginia where she served in numerous capacities, including graphics illustrator, science editor/writer, museum educator, curriculum developer, and director of multimedia services. She received a BA in Russian History from the University of Virginia.
